I've spent twenty years proving you don't need to be harsh to be heard.
Brilliant Family Dog started at my kitchen table, writing down the gentle methods that worked for my own dogs and the families I taught. It grew into nine books, a library of courses, and a community I'm genuinely proud of.

The honest version
Most people find me when they're at the end of their tether. The dog they love is pulling, barking, lunging, or hiding, and the advice they've been given so far has involved choke chains, "being the boss", or expensive one-off sessions that didn't stick.
I don't do any of that. Everything here is force-free: reward-based training that builds a dog who chooses to cooperate, because it's worked out that cooperating is the best game in town.
I also won't pretend it's instant. Real change takes a few weeks of small, kind, consistent steps. What I can promise is that you won't be doing it alone. When you get stuck, you post in the community, and a real coach answers.
The membership isn't free, and I'm upfront about why: it pays the coaches who staff the community and keeps the lessons coming. No hard sell, no fake countdown timers. Try the free courses, and only stay if it's genuinely helping you and your dog.
Three things we won't budge on
Kindness first
Force-free, reward-based methods only. If it relies on fear or pain, it's not here.
Real help, real people
Qualified coaches answer your actual questions about your actual dog, in person.
No funnel nonsense
Honest pricing, no pressure, cancel any time. We'd rather you stayed because it works.
Questions we get a lot
Is my dog too old / too far gone for this?
Almost certainly not. The methods work for puppies, adults and older dogs — the oldest dogs to work through the Academy were both 15. And reactive dogs are exactly who the Growly Dog course is built for.
Do I really get to ask questions?
Yes. The "Plus" tiers include our members' community, where Beverley and the coaches reply, usually the same day. It's the part members value most.
What does it cost, honestly?
The free mini-courses are free forever. The full membership covers every course plus community support. Cancel any time.
I've tried other training and it didn't work.
You're in good company. Most members come to us after something else fell flat. Start with a free course and see how this feels first.
